Paakantji Course (pronounced, Barkanji).

Paakintji is the language used by the local Aboriginal people on the banks of the Darling River, in the area around Wilcannia.

 

The course is a Board of Studies approved Stage 5 course, which covers ten themes.

The themes are :

  • Introduction
  • Body Parts
  • Learning to learn Paakintji
  • People
  • Animals
  • Plants
  • The River (the Darling River)
  • The Land and the Sky
  • Special Places
  • Learning to learn Paakintji Revisited

The course has been developed in consultation with local community people, and these people help to teach the language to the students.
