Welcome to Cumnock

These pages were a project of year 6, 1996. The aim was to learn how to create web pages, and to place Cumnock on the World scene. Setting an example for others to follow. These pages describe the School and the small rural community in which it is located in Central Western NSW, Australia.

Cumnock Public School

Cumnock Public School is located in a small, rural community 60km NW of the city of Orange. The village is supported by rural activities which include wheat and other grain crops together with mixed beef farming and sheep grazing. The school at Cumnock was established in 1879 on a site within the small village and was eventually relocated to its present site in 1929. During the next four decades other small neighbouring schools closed down with some of these buildings moved to the school site to act as classrooms for an increasing school population. Student numbers peaked in the 1960's but have steadily declined to its present enrolment of 60. The school has 3 teachers, and a support teacher for 3 days per week. It also has a school secretary each day. The school is well resourced and is supported by the community in its many fund raising ventures.

The school students would be interested in communicating with anyone from around the world. Please contact us through the Principal, Mr Bellis.
